Abstract

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) are related to several precipitating factors. There were
a few reports about RCVS related to airplane travel. A 66-year-old woman visited the hospital for recurrent
thunderclap headaches after airplane travel. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) showed diffuse string of beads
appearance, suspicious for vasospasm in both anterior and posterior circulations. After treatment with nimodipine
and verapamil, follow-up MRA demonstrated marked improvement of vasospasm. RCVS might be one of the unusual
causes of thunderclap headaches after airplane travel.
